Return & Refund Policy 

At The Modern Kitchen Company, we are committed to delivering complete satisfaction with every kitchen project and purchase. As a trusted kitchen remodeler in Glasgow, we strive to make your experience seamless. We offer a clear and fair return and refund process for eligible orders delivered within the United Kingdom.

1. 30-Day Return & Exchange Window

We accept returns and exchanges within 30 days from the date of delivery (or project completion for installed items, where applicable).

To be eligible for a return, the item must be:

  • Unused and in the same condition as received
  • In its original packaging with all tags, labels, and protective materials intact
  • In resellable condition

Note: For kitchen products such as cabinets, worktops, appliances, or fitted elements, returns are subject to inspection and may have additional conditions due to the nature of the goods.

2. Return Process & Costs

We aim to make returns straightforward.

Return Method: Returns are accepted by mail or arranged collection only (collection may incur a fee depending on the item size and location).

Return Shipping Cost: For small eligible items, we provide a pre-paid printable return label where possible. Larger items or fitted products may require a customer-arranged return at your cost unless the return is due to our error.

Restocking Fee: No restocking fee will be charged for standard eligible returns. Custom or made-to-order items may not qualify.

Return Authorization: Please contact us before sending any items back to receive a Return Authorization number.

3. How to Start a Return or Exchange

To initiate a return or exchange, please follow these steps:

  1. Email us at info@themodernkitchenco.co.uk with your Order Number and the reason for the return.
  2. Once approved, we will send you return instructions (and a pre-paid label if applicable).
  3. Package the item securely and return it according to the provided instructions.

4. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at info@themodernkitchenco.co.uk.

We will arrange either:

  • A replacement item, or
  • A full refund

at no additional cost to you (subject to inspection).

5. Refund Process

Inspection: Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we will notify you regarding the approval or rejection of your refund.

Processing Time: Approved refunds are processed within 7 business days.

Refund Method: Refunds will be issued to your original payment method.

Currency: All transactions and refunds are processed in British Pound Sterling (GBP £).

6. Exchanges

We offer exchanges for:

  • Different sizes (where available)
  • Different colours or finishes
  • Alternative products of equal or similar value

within the 30-day period.

Once your returned item is inspected and approved, the replacement item will be shipped to you (shipping charges may apply unless the exchange is due to our error).

7. Non-Returnable Items

Certain items cannot be returned, including:

  • Personalized, custom-made, or made-to-measure products (e.g., bespoke cabinets, cut worktops, or fitted kitchens)
  • Items marked as “Non-Returnable” on the product page are due to hygiene, safety, or perishable nature
  • Installed or fitted products once work has commenced

8. Order Cancellations

You may request an order cancellation within 24 hours of purchase.

If the order has already been processed, dispatched, or production has started (especially for custom items), you will need to follow the standard return process once received, and cancellation may not be possible.
